Ea ch identified part in an illustration has a reference
numbe r. The reference numbe r for a part also appe ars in

Re fere nce Numbers Indicating Quantity
This catalog uses two special reference numbe r formats,
one to indica te parts in a service assembly and anothe r
to indica te the qua ntity of a given part in an illustration.
In an illustration, if a reference numbe r indica tes more
than one part, the reference numbe r has the form nX y.
The n represents the qua ntity of the part, the X is the
multiplication symbol, and the y represents the reference
numbe r.
Servic e As sembly Re fere nce Numbers
Parts in service assemblies have reference numbe rs in
the form a:b. The a represents the reference numbe r of
the entire service assembly and the b represents a
seque ntial numbe r unique to each part within the service
assembly.
For example, in an illustration, the reference numbe r
2X 37 means that two of the parts identified by reference
numbe r 37 are indica ted.
