Replace Bedknife

! Loosen jam nut.
! Remove bedbar bolts (both sides
of machine).
! Remove bedbar.
! Keep the two (2) metal thrust
washers.
! Remove screws from bedbar.
! Discard screws.
! Loosen locknut.
! Compress spring.
! Insert a pin to hold spring in
position (both sides of machine).
! Loosen adjusting screw until thrust
washer contacts inside of frame
adjuster (both sides of machine).

Remove bedknife.
Lubricants
Anti-seize
! Discard nylon washers.
! Use a scraper to clean bedknife
mounting surface of bedbar.

Install Bedbar
! Use new screws (13).
! Put anti-seize lubricant on screw
threads.
! Tighten screws, starting at the center machine.
and working toward each end.
! Torque: 200 - 250 in-lb
! Make sure bedknife is perfectly flat
by grinding lightly to original
angles or backlap after installing in
! Use grease to hold steel thrust
washers against inside of frame
adjusters (both sides of machine).
! Put anti-seize lubricant on threads
of bedbar bolts. Use new nylon
bushings (2) and washers (4).
! Tighten bedbar bolts to 240 - 320
in-lb (280 - 370 KgCm).
! Tighten outside flange nuts until
washers can just rotate freely.
! Adjust bedknife to reel.
! Adjust so reel can pinch paper
without tearing when inserted from
front and cut paper cleanly when
inserted at a right angle (both
ends of reel).
