Loosen the cable support nut (Fig. 23).
Cleaning under the Belt Cover
Keep the area under the belt cover free of debris.

Remove the two bolts that secure the belt cover to the
lawn mower housing (Fig. 24).

Lift off the cover and brush out all the debris from the
belt area.

Remove the two bolts that secure the belt cover and
remove the cover (Fig. 24).
POTENTIAL HAZARD

Operating a lawn mower with its engine
running at a speed greater than the factory
setting can cause an unsafe operating condition.

The lawn mower could throw a part of the
blade or engine into the operator’s or
bystander’s area and cause serious personal
injury or death.

HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD

Do not change the engine speed setting.
If you suspect the engine speed is faster than
normal, contact your Authorized Service
Dealer.

Push down on the drive bracket until it contacts the
lawn mower, then hold it in place (Fig. 25).

IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to adjust the
fuel-and-air mixture on the engine. If you need to
adjust this mixture, contact your Authorized Service
Dealer.

Emptying the Fuel Tank

Stop the engine and wait for it to cool down.

2. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug (Fig. 10).

Remove the cap from the fuel tank (Fig. 5).

While holding the drive bracket down, pull the cable
jacket down (toward the lawn mower) until the upper
handle retracts as far as possible and there is no slack
in the cable (Fig. 23).
Use a hand pump to syphon the fuel into a clean
approved gasoline container.

Connect the wire to the spark plug.
Run the engine until it stops.

Release the drive bracket.
Tighten the nut on the cable support (Fig. 23).
Install the belt cover.
Start the engine again to make sure that all the
gasoline is out of the carburetor.
