Adjustments

Shave Plate

Tochecktheadjustment of theshaveplate, placethe
unit onalevel surface. Thewheels, shaveplateand
augersshouldall contact level surface. Notethat if the
shaveplateisadjustedtoohigh, snowmayblowunder
thehousing. If theshaveplatewearsout excessively,
or theunit doesnot self-propel, theshaveplatemay
betoolowandneedstobeadjusted.

Toadjust, tipthesnowthrower backsothat it rests
onthehandle. Loosenthelocknutsandboltswhich
securetheshaveplatetothehousing. SeeFigure7.
Movetheshaveplatetodesiredpositionandretighten
thenutsandboltssecurely.

Theshaveplateisattachedtothebottomof theauger
housingandissubject towear. It shouldbechecked
periodically. Therearetwowearingedgesandtheshave
platecanbereversed. Refer toFigure7.

Disconnect the
sparkplugwire
andgroundit against
theenginetoprevent
unintendedstarting.

Removethecarriageboltsandhexlocknutswhich
attachit tothesnowthrower housing.
Install newshaveplate, makingsuretheheadsof the
carriageboltsareontheinsideof thehousing.
Adjust theshaveplateaccordingtoinstructions
above. Tightenthenutssecurelybeforeoperatingthe
snowthrower.

Control Cable
Asaresult of boththecontrol cableandthedrivebelt
stretchingduetowear, periodicadjustmentsmaybe
necessary.
If theauger seemstohesitatewhenrotatingwhilethe
enginemaintainsaconstant speed, anadjustment is
necessary. Proceedasfollows:

repairing, orinspect-
ing, disengagethe
control bail and
stopengine. Wait
until all moving
WARNING: Disconnect thesparkplug
wireandgroundit against theengine
toprevent unintendedstarting.
Theupper holeinthecontrol handleprovidesfor an
adjustment incabletension. Toadjust, disconnect the
endof control cablefromthebottomholeinthecontrol
handleandreinsert it intheupper hole. Insert thecable
fromtheoutsideasshowninFigure8. Test thesnow
thrower toseeif thereisanoticeabledifference.

running, except wherespecifiedinthe
operator’smanual.

Carburetor
WARNING: If anyadjustmentsneedto
bemadetotheenginewhiletheengine
isrunning(e.g. carburetor), keep
clearof all movingparts. Becareful of
muffler, engineandothersurrounding
heatedsurfaces.
