Cleaning the Underside of the
Mower Housing

To ensure best performance, keep the underside of the
mower housing clean. Be especially careful to keep the
kickers free of debris (Fig. 23).

2.
Pull the wire off of the spark plug (Fig. 6).

WHAT CAN HAPPEN
1.
Kickers
•
Tipping the mower may cause fuel leakage
from the carburetor or fuel tank.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Washing Method
•
Avoid fuel spills by running the engine dry or
removing gas with a hand pump; never siphon.
1.
Position the mower on a flat, concrete or asphalt
surface near a garden hose.
3.
4.
Tip the mower on its left side (Fig. 23).
2.
3.
Start the engine.
Remove dirt and grass clippings with a hardwood
scraper. Avoid burrs and sharp edges.
Hold the running garden hose at handle level and
direct the water to flow on the ground just in front of
the right rear tire (Fig. 24).
IMPORTANT: Move the blade as little as possible to
avoid future starting problems.
The blade will draw in water and wash out clippings.
Let the water run until you no longer see clippings
being washed out from under housing.
5. Turn the mower upright.
6.
7.
Refill the gas tank.
Connect the spark plug wire (Fig. 6).
