DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT (Cont.)
WARNING
Auger Drive Belt Replacement
Do not go near the discharge chute or auger when the
engine is running. Do not run the engine with any
cover or guard removed.
1.
Remove gas from fuel tank and run engine until it
stops running from lack of fuel.

Disconnect spark plug wire and fasten it away from
the spark plug.

Remove belt cover (See Figure 21 on page 18).
Loosen auger belt guide and slide belt off engine pul-
ley and away from idler pulley. (See Figure 22).

Clamp or tie Auger Control lever to handle in the fully
depressed position to release all tension on the auger
pulley brake pad, and provide clearance for belt
removal.

Elevate the rear of the unit by placing the wheels on
ramps or suitable blocks, and block wheels with a
wheel chock to avoid rolling—or tilt unit forward and
rest on auger housing.

Remove lower cover.
Loosen hex screws securing belt stop (Figure 24),
and pivot the belt stop away from the pulley to permit
removal of belt.

Pull the belt out of the unit, and install the new belt on
the auger drive pulley.

Position belt stop to provide 1/8" clearance between
stop and belt, and and tighten securely.

Replace lower cover.
Return unit to normal upright operating position.
Release Auger Control.
Install auger belt over engine pulley.
Adjust auger belt stop as described under ADJUST-
ING BELT GUIDES.

Install belt cover.
Connect spark plug wire and fill fuel tank.
Start Unit and check auger for proper operation. See
"Auger Drive Clutch Rod Adjustment" for adjustment
procedures if additional adjustment is necessary.
WARNING
Auger must NOT rotate unless the Auger Control
lever has been depressed, and auger must stop within
5
seconds after Auger Control lever has been
released.
