Cast Deck - Rear Axle Belt Replacement
3. Disconnect traction cable from transmission (Fig.
165).
1.
Up near the handle, loosen traction cable anchor nut
#14) and pull traction cable housing (#15) up toward
handle, which provides enough slack to remove
traction cable from transmission (Fig. 163).

4. Remove blade bolt, blade accelerator, blade, and
blade driver.

Tip mower on its side, air filter up. DO NOT tip the
mower with the air filter side down.
Remove (3) transmission belt guide screws and belt
guide (Fig. 165).

Remove the old belt and install a new belt. If not
replacing the transmission, reassemble in reverse
order. To replace the transmission see “Cast Deck
- Rear Axle Transmission Replacement” in this
chapter. See opera tor’s manual for blade bolt
torque specification.

. Remove (1) belt cover screw and belt cover from top
of deck, which provides access to the transmission
belt guide screws (Fig. 164).
