Shift Cable
If thefull rangeof speeds(forwardandreverse) cannot
beachieved, refer tothefigurestotheright andadjust
theshift cableasfollows:

Drive Control
Whenthedrivecontrol isreleasedandinthedisen-
gaged“up” position, thecableshouldhaveverylittle
slack. It shouldNOTbetight.
Checktheadjustment of thedrivecontrol asfollows:
WARNING

Withthedrivecontrol released, pushthesnow
thrower gentlyforward. Theunit shouldroll freely.
Read, understand,
andfollowall instruc-
tionsandwarnings
onthemachineand
inthismanual before
operating.
2. Engagethedrivecontrol andgentlyattempt topush
thesnowthrower forward. Thewheelsshouldnot
turn. Theunit shouldnot roll freely.
3.
Withthedrivecontrol released, movetheshift lever
backandforthbetweentheR2positionandtheF6
positionseveral times. Thereshouldbenoresistance
intheshift lever.
4.
If anyof theabovetestsfailed, thedrivecableisin
needof adjustment. Proceedasfollows:

engineisrunning,
except wherespeci-
fiedinoperator’s
manual.
5. Loosenthelower hexnut onthedrivecablebracket.

6. Positionthebracket upwardtoprovidemoreslack(or
downwardtoincreasecabletension).
7. Retightentheupper hexnut.
Chute Assembly
Thedistancesnowisthrowncanbeadjustedbychang-
ingtheangleof thechuteassembly. Todoso:

Stoptheenginebyremovingtheignitionkeyand
loosentheplasticwingknobfoundontheleft sideof
thechuteassembly.
Pivot thechuteupwardor downwardbeforeretight-
eningthewingknob. SeeFigure5.
