Replacing the Cutting Blade Checking and Replacing
the Wear Guard

Secure arm (4) with screws (3),
A bent or cracked blade must not be
straightened or welded – it may break
completely! Such blades must be
replaced – see “Fitting the Cutting
Blade”.
Checking the Wear Guard
Before every use:
tighten down firmly.
Slide clamp (2) down drive tube in
direction of gearbox and tighten the
screw (1) firmly.

Check the wear guard (1) for
damage.
The wear guard must be replaced
as soon as the deflector (2) (arrow)
becomes visible at the latest.
Only use genuine STIHL cutting blades

Replace the blade (1) when its
length (A) is no longer sufficient to
maintain the necessary ground
clearance (B) and obtain the
required depth of cut (C).
To avoid out-of-balance:
The gearbox may be seriously
damaged if you do not replace the
wear guard in good time.

Do not resharpen the blade!
