Shave Plate

Tochecktheadjustment of theshaveplate, placethe
unit onalevel surface. Thewheels, shaveplateand
augersshouldall contact level surface. Notethat if the
shaveplateisadjustedtoohigh, snowmayblowunder
thehousing. If theshaveplatewearsout excessively,
or theunit doesnot self-propel, theshaveplatemay
betoolowandneedstobeadjusted.

2. Toadjust, tipthesnowthrower backsothat it restson
thehandle. Loosenthefour locknutsandboltswhich
securetheshaveplatetothehousing. SeeFigure7.
Movetheshaveplatetodesiredpositionandretighten
thenutsandboltssecurely.
Replacing Shave Plate
Theshaveplateisattachedtothebottomof theauger
housingandissubject towear. It shouldbechecked
periodically. Therearetwowearingedgesandtheshave
platecanbereversed. Refer toFigure7. Toreplaceor
reversetheshaveplateproceedasfollows.
WARNING
Disconnect the
sparkplugwire
andgroundit against
theenginetoprevent
unintendedstarting.

Removethecarriageboltsandhexlocknutswhich
attachit tothesnowthrower housing.

headsof thecarriageboltsareontheinsideof the
housing.

Control Cable
Asaresult of boththecontrol cableandthedrivebelt
stretchingduetowear, periodicadjustmentsmaybe
necessary.
If theauger seemstohesitatewhenrotatingwhilethe
enginemaintainsaconstant speed, anadjustment is
necessary. Proceedasfollows:
Theupper holeinthecontrol handleprovidesfor an
adjustment incabletension. Toadjust, disconnect the
endof control cablefromthebottomholeinthecontrol
handleandreinsert it intheupper hole. Insert thecable
fromtheoutsideasshowninFigure8. Test thesnow
thrower toseeif thereisanoticeabledifference.
Beforeservicing,
repairing, or
inspecting,
disengagethe
control bail and
stopengine. Wait
until all moving
partshavecometoa
completestop.
