RULES FOR SAFE OP ERATION

After striking a foreign ob ject, turn the powe rhead off
AFTER OP ERATING:
and inspect the snow throwe r for dama ge . For ga s
powe rheads: Remove wire from the spark plug. For
electric powe rheads: Disconne ct the cord . Repair
dama ge before restarting and op erating the unit.

Follow instruc tions for care, ma intenance, and stora ge
of snow throwe r.
•
Only qualified personne l should perform any repairs
or ma intenance proc edures tha t are not described
in this ma nua l.

If the unit should start to vibrate abnorma lly, stop the
powe rhead and check imme diately for the caus e.
Vibration is ge nerally a warning of troub le.

Remove residue ice or snow from the vanes and rotor
by briefly running the unit out of snow.
Stop the powe rhead whe never you leave the op erating
pos ition, before unc logging the rotor or discharge
vanes, and whe n ma king any repairs, adjustme nts , or
inspections .
Store snow throwe r indoors in a dry, locked place.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Always refer to the op erator' s guid e instruc tions for
importa nt details if snow throwe r is to be store d for an
extended period.

Clear snow from slopes by going up and down. Never
go acros s the slope. Use caution whe n changing
directions . Never clear snow from steep slopes.

Use only atta chme nts and accessories approve d by
the ma nufa cture r of the snow throwe r.

Never atte mp t to us e the snow throwe r on a roof or
any steep, inclined, slippery surfaces.
SPECIAL SAFETY WARNINGS FOR ELECTRIC
POWERHEADS AND SNOW THROWERS
Never op erate snow throwe r without prop er gua rds,
plates or othe r safety prote ctive devices in place.

When cleaning, inspecting, or repairing, make certain
the rotor and all moving parts have stopped. Disconnect
the extens ion cord to prevent accidental starting.
Never op erate the snow throwe r near glass enclosures,
automob iles, truc ks, window wells, drop offs, etc.
without prop er adjustme nt of the snow discharge
angle . Keep children and pets away.
Use extens ion cord s and receptacles as specified by
the ma nufa cture r for all units with electric drive motors
or electric starting motors .

Don’t force or ove rload the snow throwe r. Snow
throwe r will perform at its best and safest whe n run at
the rate for which it was designe d.
Use only 3-wire outd oor extens ion cord s tha t have 3-
prong ground ing-typ e plugs and 3-p ole receptacles
tha t accept the snow throwe r's plug. Replace or repair
dama ge d cord s.
Never op erate the ma chine at high trans port speeds on
slippery surfaces. Look behind and us e care whe n
backing.

Do not abus e extens ion cord . Never carry snow
throwe r by the cord or yank on the cord to disconne ct
it from the receptacle.

Never direct discharge towards people or allow anyone in
front of the unit while operating.
Disengage power to the rotor when snow thrower is
trans ported or not in use.

Keep the extens ion cord away from heat, oil, and sharp
edge s to prevent dama ge .
Make sure the rotor will spin freely before atta ching the
snow throwe r to the powe rhead.
If extens ion cord is dama ge d in any ma nne r while
plugge d in, pull extens ion cord from receptacle.
If the rotor will not rota te freely due to froze n ice, tha w
the unit thoroughly before atte mp ting to op erate it
und er powe r.
Prevent disconne ction of snow throwe r powe rhead
from extens ion cord during op eration by us ing a plug-
receptacle retaining strap, conne ctor, or by ma king a
knot as shown below:

Keep the rotor clear of debris.
Do not ove rreach. Keep prop er footing and balance at
all times.

Never discharge snow onto public roa ds or near
moving traffic.
Let snow throwe r run for a few minute s after clearing
snow so moving parts do not freeze.

Do not us e in rain or during a snowfa ll. Do not us e in or
around water.
Never op erate without good visibility or light. Always
be sure of your footing and keep a firm hold on the
handles. Walk; never run.
Avoid accidenta l starting. Don' t carry plugge d-in snow
throwe r with finger on switch.
