Series connection for voltage readings
Connecting a voltmeter in series checks the com-
plete circuit for continuity. A meter reading of bat-
tery voltage, indicates that there is continuity from
the battery, to the load and back to the battery. A
meter reading of 0.0 volts indicates an open circuit.

Isolate the load from the circuit
