Troubleshooting
Problem
Possible Cause
Spray system leaks fluid.
Fitting(s) or hose(s) are loose or damaged.
O–ring(s) or seal(s) are missing or damaged.
Suction line is restricted.
Spray pressure is low.
Filter screen is plugged.
Pressure regulator is damaged or incorrectly adjusted.
Spray nozzle is worn or damaged.
Check valve in diaphragm nozzle is stuck or plugged.
Engine speed is low.
Pressure relief valve in spray pump is stuck.
Pump drive belt is slipping.
Spray pump is faulty.
Paint tank is empty.
No spray output from nozzle.
Paint/Flush lever is in the off position.
Hose(s) are pinched or kinked.
Dried paint in system.
Filter screen is plugged.
Spray nozzle is clogged or damaged.
Check valve in diaphragm nozzle is stuck or plugged.
Paint shutoff valve is faulty.
Pump drive belt is slipping, damaged or broken.
Spray pump is faulty.
Flush tank is empty.
No spray output from nozzle in the
flush mode.
Check valve in flush tank outlet tube is stuck closed.
Nozzle leaks when paint valve is
closed.
Check valve diaphragm in diaphragm nozzle body is leaking or
damaged.
Paint shutoff valve is not seating.
Paint control cable is not adjusted correctly (see Paint Control
Cable in the Service and Repairs section of Chapter 6 – Chassis
and Controls).
Paint is being pumped into the flush
tank.
Check valve in flush tank outlet tube is stuck open.
