Setting Bedknife Attitude using a Two Screw Height of Cut Bar
When setting the bedknife attitude on the RM5500 cutting unit, it is important that all of
the cutting units are set up the same.
To insure that the bedknife attitudes of all the cutting units are the same, begin by
setting one cutting unit by the method that was previously discussed.
Now, take the two-screw Height of Cut bar. Hook the top screw over the front of the
bedknife and adjust the screw until the Height of Cut Bar contacts both rollers.
Now set the second screw until the screw until it contacts the bottom of the bedknife.
Now moving to the next cutting unit, hook the Height of Cut Bar screw on the cutting
edge of the Bedknife.
Roll the Height of Cut Bar until the second screw contacts the back of the bedknife.
Now set the front and rear rollers until they contact the Height of Cut Bar.
This procedure will parallel the rear roller, set the height of cut and set the bedknife
attitude so that they are the same as the other cutting units.
NOTE: It is a good idea to check the bedknife attitude with the angle gauge also, to
verify that it is the same. Bedknives that are worn differently can affect this method.
