Toro® RM 5000 Series Preventative Maintenance
When backlapping the cutting units apply the lapping compound with the long handled
brush supplied with the machine.
While backlapping the cutting units, if the units stall out, the speed can be adjusted
faster to prevent cutting unit from stalling.
NOTE: RM5100 and 5300 cutting units will have to be restarted after stalling. The ACE
system will disengage these the cutting units and flash the reel speed light until the
mow lever is cycled.
NOTE: For a better cutting edge, run a file across the front face of the bedknife after
backlapping. This will remove any burrs or rough edges that may have built up on the
cutting edge.
After backlapping wash all the lapping compound from the reel, bedknife and the entire
cutting unit.
