a.Loosen the idler adjustment nut.

idler away from belt.

bottom cover by removing four cap

brake must contact attachment belt.
When the clutch lever is engaged, the
brake must be more than 1/16 in.

Repeat steps 4 – 7 until:
Spring stretch and brake contact are
correct.
If drive slips, adjust traction clutch to
compensate for friction disc wear.

Check belt finger clearance (Figure 21).
To adjust traction clutch:
With clutch lever engaged, belt fingers
should be 1/16 – 1/8 in. (1.6 –3 mm) from
belt. Adjust belt fingers as necessary.

Place speed selector in First (1) Forward.
Place unit in service position.
With traction clutch disengaged turn
wheels while tightening adjustment nut
(Figure 18), at clutch yoke.

Replace bottom cover.

Engage and release traction clutch.
Turn wheels to check for slight drag.
7/16 –11/16 in.
(11.1–17.5 mm)
Repeat steps 3 - 5 until wheels begin to
drag.

Chain should be taut with little or no play in it.
To compensate for looseness or excessive
tightness in drive chain:

Put unit into service position.

Loosen nuts on idler hex shaft
(Figure 22). Adjust the idler hex shaft in
slot as necessary. Torque the nut to
70-146 lbf-in. (7.9 - 16.5 N•m).
