your snowthrower. Readinstructionscarefully.
6. Astheenginewarms, slowlyrotatethechokecontrol
totheOFFposition. If theenginefalters, quicklyrotate
thechokecontrol backtoFULLandthenslowlyinto
theOFFpositionagain.

Whendisconnectingtheextensioncord, always
unplugtheendat thethree-prongwall outlet before
unpluggingtheoppositeendfromthesnowthrower.
Starting The Engine
1.
Attachsparkplugwiretosparkplug. Makecertainthe
metal loopontheendof thesparkplugwire(inside
therubber boot) isfastenedsecurelyover themetal
tiponthesparkplug.

1. Rotatechokecontrol toFULLchokeposition(cold
enginestart).

Makecertainboththeauger control anddrivecontrol
areinthedisengaged(released) position.
NOTE: If theengineisalreadywarm, placechokecontrol
intheOFFpositioninsteadof FULL.
Movethrottlecontrol uptoFASTposition. Insert
ignitionkeyintoslot. Makesureit snapsintoplace.
Donot attempt toturnthekey.

Pushtheprimer twoor threetimesfor coldengine
start, makingsuretocover vent holeinthecenter of
theprimer whenpushing.
NOTE: Theenginecannot start unlessthekeyis
insertedintoignitionswitch.
Useextremecare
whenhandling
NOTE: DONOTuseprimer torestart awarmengine
after ashort shutdown.
Electric Starter
1.
Determinethat your home’swiringisathree-wire
groundedsystem. Askalicensedelectricianif youare
not certain.
gasoline. Gasolineis
extremelyflammable
andthevaporsare
explosive.Neverfuel
themachineindoors
orwhiletheengine
ishot orrunning.
Extinguishcigarettes,
cigars, pipesand
othersourcesof
ignition.
NOTE: Additional primingmaybenecessaryif the
temperatureisbelow15°Fahrenheit.

Grasptherecoil starter handleandslowlypull the
ropeout. At thepoint whereit becomesslightlyharder
topull therope, slowlyallowtheropetorecoil.
WARNING: Theoptional electric
starterisequippedwitha
groundedthree-wirepowercord
andplug, andisdesignedtoop-
erateon120volt AChousehold
current. It must beusedwitha
properlygroundedthree-prong
receptacleat all timestoavoid
thepossibilityof electricshock.
Followall instructionscarefully
priortooperatingtheelectric
starter.
If youhaveagroundedthree-prongreceptacle, proceed
asfollows:
1. Plugtheextensioncordintotheoutlet locatedonthe
engine’ssurface. Plugtheother endof extensioncord off anymoistureontheengine.
intoathree-prong120-volt, grounded, ACoutlet ina
well-ventilatedarea.
4.
Pull thestarter handlewithafirm, rapidstroke. Donot
releasethehandleandallowit tosnapback. Keepa
firmholdonthestarter handleandallowit toslowly
recoil.
5. Astheenginewarms, slowlyrotatethechokecontrol
totheOFFposition. If theenginefalters, quicklyrotate
thechokecontrol backtotheFULLpositionandthen
slowlyintotheOFFpositionagain.
If yourhome’swir-
ingsystemisnot a
three-wiregrounded
system, donot use
thiselectricstarter
underanyconditions.
NOTE: Allowtheenginetowarmupfor afewminutes
after starting. Theenginewill not developfull power until
it reachesoperatingtemperatures.
Stopping The Engine
Runenginefor afewminutesbeforestoppingtohelpdry
• Tohelpprevent possiblestarter freeze-up, proceedas
follows:

isnot available, do
not useyoursnow
thrower’selectric
starter.

Connect extensioncordtotheelectricstarter outlet
ontheengine, thento120volt ACoutlet.
NOTE:If theengineisalreadywarm, placechokecontrol

2. Withtheenginerunning, pushthestarter buttonand
allowthestarter for spinfor several seconds. The
noisemadebythestarter isnormal. Theengine’s
starter isnot beingharmed.
