Wipeall snowandmoisturefromtheareaaroundthe
engineaswell  astheareainandaroundthedrive
control andauger control. Also, engageandrelease
bothcontrolsseveral  times.
To Engage Augers
Toengagetheaugersandstart   throwingsnow,
squeezetheauger control against theleft handle.
Releasetostoptheaugers.

NOTE: Keepthekeyinasafeplace.   Theenginecannot
start without theignitionkey.
When selecting a
Drive Speed, use the
slower speeds until
you are comfortable
and familiar with the
operation of the snow
thrower.
Auger Control Test
Performthefollowingtest beforeoperatingyour  snow
thrower for thefirst timeandat thestart of eachwinter.
Checktheadjustment of theauger control asfollows:
Recoil Starter

Withenginerunning, pull starter ropewitharapid,
continuousfull armstrokethreeor  four times. Pulling
thestarter ropewill producealoudclatteringsound,
whichisnot harmful toengine.

Whentheauger control isreleasedandinthe
disengaged“up” position, thecableshouldhavevery
littleslack. It shouldNOTbetight.

Inawell-ventilatedarea,  start thesnowthrower engine
asinstructedonthepreviouspage.   Makesurethe
throttleisset intheFASTposition.

Movethrottlecontrol toSTOPposition.
Removetheignitionkey.
NEVER reposition the
shift lever (change
speeds or direction
of travel) without first
releasing the drive
control and bringing
the snow thrower
to a complete stop.
Doing so will result in
premature wear to the
snow thrower’s drive
system.

Whilestandingintheoperator’sposition(behindthe
snowthrower), engagetheauger.
NOTE: Keepthekeyinasafeplace.   Theenginecannot
start without theignitionkey.
Allowtheauger toremainengagedfor  approximately
ten(10) secondsbeforereleasingtheauger  control.
Repeat thisseveral times.

Wipeall snowandmoisturefromtheareaaroundthe
engineaswell  astheareainandaroundthedrive
control andauger control. Also, engageandrelease
bothcontrolsseveral  times.
5.  Withthethrottlecontrol  intheFAST(rabbit)  position
andtheauger control inthedisengaged“up”  position,
walktothefront  of themachine.
Chute Clean-Out Tool
Thechuteclean-out tool isconvenientlyfastenedtothe
rear of theauger housingwithamountingclip.  Should
snowandicebecomelodgedinthechuteassembly
duringoperation, proceedasfollowstosafelycleanthe
chuteassemblyandchuteopening:

Confirmthat theauger hascompletelystopped
rotatingandshowsNOsignsof  motion. If theauger
showsANYsignsof  rotating, immediatelyreturntothe
operator’spositionandshut  off theengine. Wait for
ALLmovingpartstostopbeforere-adjustingtheauger
control.

ReleaseboththeAuger  Control andtheDriveControl.
Stoptheenginebyremovingtheignitionkey.

Toreadjust thecontrol cable, loosentheupper hex  nut
ontheauger cablebracket.
Removetheclean-out tool fromtheclipwhichsecures
it totherear of theauger housing.
Positionthebracket upwardtoprovidemoreslack(or
downwardtoincreasecabletension).  SeeFigure2.

Usetheshovel-shapedendof  theclean-out tool to
dislodgeandscoopanysnowandicewhichhas
formedinandnear  thechuteassembly.
Retightentheupper hexnut.
10.Repeat AugerControl Test toverifyproper adjust-
ment hasbeenachieved.
Refastentheclean-out tool tothemountingcliponthe
rear of theauger housing, reinsert theignitionkeyand
start thesnowthrower’sengine.
WARNING
Never use your hands
to clean snow and
ice from the chute
assembly or auger
housing.
Whilestandingintheoperator’sposition(behindthe
snowthrower), engagetheauger control for afew
secondstoclear anyremainingsnowandicefromthe
chuteassembly.
To Engage Drive
1.
Withthethrottlecontrol  intheFast  (rabbit) position,
moveshift lever intooneof thesixforward(F)
positionsor tworeverse(R)  positions. Select aspeed
appropriatefor thesnowconditionsandapaceyou’re
comfortablewith.
The muffler, engine
and surrounding
areas become hot
and can cause a
burn. Do not touch.

Squeezetheauger control against thehandleandthe
augerswill turn. Releaseit andtheaugerswill  stop.
Squeezethedrivecontrol  against thehandlethesnow
thrower will move. Releaseit anddrivemotionwill
stop.
