Pull the wire off of the spark plug (Fig. 29) and
remove the plug from the cylinder head.

Lightly lubricate the snowthrower with light oil as
shown in Figure 28
IMPORTANT: Replace a cracked, fouled or dirty
spark plug. Do not sand blast, scrape or clean
electrodes because grit may release from the plug and
fall into the cylinder and cause engine damage.
IMPORTANT: Do not over oil the snowthrower;
extra oil may enter the traction drive and cause the
traction drive belt to slip.

Set the air gap between the electrodes of the spark
plug at 0.030 in. (0.76 mm) (Fig. 30).

Grease the snowthrower as shown in Figure 28.

Install the spark plug in the cylinder head.
Torque the plug to 15 ft-lb (20.4 Nm).
Push the wire onto the spark plug (Fig. 29).

Emptying the Fuel Tank

Close the fuel shut-off valve located under the fuel
tank (Fig. 31) by rotating valve to the left.

Wipe up any excess oil or grease.
Install the bottom cover with the four screws.
Return the snowthrower to its upright position.

Replacing the Spark Plug

Check the spark plug periodically as given in the
Recommended Maintenance Schedule on page 16. If the
electrodes in the center of the plug are dark or have
deteriorated, install a new Champion RJ–19LM spark plug
or equivalent.
