THREE SPEED TRANSMISSION
Removal - Recycler/Rear Bagger Chassis
Disassembly
To remove the transmission from the chassis, raise the
rear and support it with blocks.
Inspection of this transmission can be accomplished
without removing the pivot arm assembly from the output
shaft. Only if components on the output shaft require
replacement will pivot arm removal be necessary.

Remove both rear wheels and wheel covers.
Remove the rocking key clutches (see “Wheel Pinion
Clutch” on page 5-3).
1. Remove the six flanged head self-tapping screws
securing the transmission cover to the transmission
case. Remove the cover (Fig. 121).

Slide the pivot arm and spring arm off the axles.
Remove the belt cover. Loosen the belt guide and
slip the belt off the pulley. Disconnect shift and clutch
cables.

Slide the transmission to the right to slip the short
end of the axle out of the chassis.

Pivot both spring arms until they point straight.
Remove belt cover and belt.
Disconnect shift and clutch cables.

Remove 4 self-tapping screws securing end caps to
housing (Fig. 120).

Before disassembling further, check for proper
operation of the input system, the gear reduction
system and gear selection system. For more
information on this, refer to “OPERATION” on page
4-3.
