Operate Toro Turf Maintenance Equipment at Full Engine RPM
Hydraulic systems and other drive systems on Toro turf
maintenance equipment are designed for operation at
full governed engine RPM. Operating engine powered
mowers, sweepers or aerators at less than full engine
RPM can result in poor performance and unsatisfactory
results.
NOTE: On machines with hydrostatic drive systems, the
traction pedal is used to control forward speed and
“gearing”. For example, as you let up on the pedal, for-
ward speed decreases, but power transmitted to the
wheels increases. When you get in a difficult traction sit-
uation, such as going up a hill, the tendency may be to
push down on the traction pedal – don’t – instead, let up
on the pedal to get a lower “gear” and more power to the
wheels.
Cleaning Radiators, Oil Coolers and Screens
When cleaning or removing debris from radiators, oil
coolers or cooling screens, always use low pressure
compressed air (less than 90 PSI). Be careful not to
bend the cooling fins.
Do not use water to clean radiators, oil coolers and
screens. Water, combined with dirt and debris can plug
the cooling passages in a radiator or oil cooler. The de-
bris can often contain some amount of turf chemical or
fertilizer residue. These chemicals, combined with wa-
ter and debris, can create a corrosive mixture which may
accelerate deterioration of metal components, such as
radiators, oil coolers and sheet metal parts.
