Use Proper Coolant in PEUGEOT Diesel Engines
Peugeot recommended coolant/anti–Freeze is avail-
able from Toro in 1 gallon containers. This specially for-
mulated coolant is strongly recommended by Peugeot
when servicing cooling systems on Toro equipment
powered by a Peugeot Diesel engine. NOTE: Peugeot
now also approves the use of Havoline Dex–Cool brand
anti–freeze/coolant in Peugeot engines as a substitute
for Toro supplied anti–freeze.

Fuel Quality
One item that is often overlooked, that can cause ma-
chine performance problems or expensive repairs, is
fuel quality. Keep you fuel storage tanks full to help pre-
vent condensation. If you have above ground tanks,
they should be covered with a roof to prevent heat from
sunlight causing degradation of the fuel. Make sure your
storage tank has a water separator and good filter to
prevent contaminated fuel from getting into your equip-
ment. Use a fuel stabilizer additive when fuel is stored
in portable fuel containers or in the machine.
Engine Head Bolt Torque
Many engines used in Toro Commercial Products re-
quire tightening of cylinder head bolts and/or valve
clearance adjustment as a scheduled maintenance pro-
cedure. For example, Mitsubishi L–Series engines,
used in the Groundsmaster 220–D/223–D, Greensmas-
ter 3000–D and Reelmaster 223–D/5100–D require ser-
vice after the first 50 hours of operation, then every 400
hours operation). Other machines may have other re-
quirements. Failure to follow these recommendations
could reduce the life of the engine, cause reduced per-
formance, or head gasket leakage.
