Top Five Safety Tips
1.
Before starting the engine, study the Operator’s
Manual. Read each safety decal and warning label on
the machine and watch the Operator Training Video. Be
sure you are familiar with the equipment and do a pre–
operation check of all safety interlocks, shields, guards
and deflectors. They should all be in place and working
properly before using the equipment. NEVER bypass
the safety interlocks.
2.
Always shut off the engine and engage the parking
brake when leaving the operator’s position.
3.
Be extra careful on hills and adjust your speed ac-
cording to the conditions. Wet conditions, hills, rough
terrain and obstacles require slower speeds, perhaps a
lot slower.
4.
Remember that you are responsible for the safety of
others near you. If anyone enters the immediate area
you are mowing, stop and wait for them to leave the area
before you continue mowing. Never give anyone a ride,
even for a short distance.
5.
Wear proper clothing and safety protection equip-
ment, such as eye and ear protection. The Operator’s
Manual and Video give more detail on what to wear. Your
supervisor can tell you about any local requirements.
