Power and Fuel Relays
The ProForce Debris Blower electrical system includes
two (2) identical relays. The power and fuel relays are
secured to a frame bracket between the battery and the
engine (Fig. 14). Both relays are energized by the Re-
mote Control Module. Relays can be identified by a tag
on the wire harness.

minals 30 and 87A. Ground terminal 86 and apply +12
VDCtoterminal85.Therelayshouldnothavecontinuity
between terminals 30 and 87A as +12 VDC is applied to
terminal 85. The relay should have continuity between
terminals 30 and 87A as +12 VDC is removed from ter-
minal 85.

when energized by the Remote Control Module.
8. Disconnect voltage and multimeter leads from the
relay terminals.
The fuel relay is used to energize the engine carburetor
fuel solenoid. When the ignition switch is in the RUN or
START position, the fuel relay is energized by the Re-
mote Control Module.
9. Secure relay to machine and connect machine wire
harness connector to relay.

negative battery cable to negative battery

terminal. Tighten nut that secures battery cable from 10
to 15 ft--lb(14 to 20 N--m).Make sure that battery cover
is secured.

Make sure that ignition switch is OFF.
To prevent unexpected machine operation, discon-
nect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal
(see Battery Service in the Service and Repairs section
of this chapter). Position disconnected negative cable
away from the negative battery terminal.

NOTE: Prior to taking small resistance readings with a
digital multimeter, short the meter test leads together.
The meter will display a small resistance value (usually
0.5
ohms or less). This resistance is due to the internal
1
resistance of the meter and test leads. Subtract this val-
ue from the measured value of the component you are
testing.

Using a multimeter (ohms setting), measure coil re-
sistance between terminals 85 and 86 (Fig. 15). Resist-
ance should be between 70 and 90 ohms.
