Zero Ohms
The tools used to check for defective switches are a
continuity tester/light or an ohmmeter (Figure 15). A
continuity tester or ohmmeter, as the names imply, are
used to test for a completed current flow in an electrical
circuit. To test the ignition switch on your snowthrower:

Remove the upper shroud.
Slide the terminal connector off the ignition switch
(Figure 16). With the key in the OFF position,
place the continuity light or ohmmeter leads, one
to each terminal on the ignition switch (Figure 17);
the light or meter, depending on the instrument
used, should show continuity. (The continuity light
should be on or the ohmmeter needle should
move to a zero ohms reading.) If not, the switch is
defective and needs to be replaced.

Now, turn the key to the ON position, the meter or
light from the tester should not indicate continuity
(Figure 18). (The continuity light, if being used,
should be OFF. An ohmmeter should move close
to • .) If not, replace the switch.

Single Stage Snowthrower Service Manual
(3 votes, average: 4.67 out of 5) Lawn and Garden readers have rated Toro Single Stage Snow Blower Service Manual 4.7 out of 5.0 based on 3 product reviews.
EXCELLENT . Hard to find manual and very detailed . Only downside is the pics and wording in pics are backwards , but I can deal with that
The manual provides detailed step-by-step instructions for engine removal and installation but there is nothing in it about repair of the recoil starter. The engine removal instructions will be helpful because the starter is buried behind the fuel tank and engine support bracket. I think my problem is a sticking starter dog but getting to it will be a major project.
