Adjustments
CAUTION
Never adjust or work on the cutting units or lift
arms with the engine running. Always stop en-
gine and remove key first.
Refer to the Cutting Unit Operator’s Manual regarding
adjustmentprocedures forGroundsmaster 3505--Dcut-
ting decks.
Blade Stopping Time
The blades of the cutting decks should come to a com-
plete stop in approximately 5 seconds after the PTO
switch is disengaged.
To verify blade stopping time, have a second person
stand back a safe distance from the machine and watch
thebladeononeofthecuttingdecks.Whenthemachine
operator disengages the cutting decks, record the time
it takes for the blade to come to a complete stop. If this
time is greater than 7 seconds, the braking valve (BV)
on the hydraulic manifold needs adjustment (see Brak-
ing Valve Adjustment in the Adjustments section of
Chapter 4 -- Hydraulic System).
NOTE: Whenchecking bladestoppingtime,makesure
thedecksareloweredontoacleansectionofturforhard
surface to avoid dust and debris.
