Shaft Seal Removal
NOTE: The hydrostat uses lip seals on the main, con-
trol, and trunnion shafts. Replacement of these seals re-
quires no disassembly.

When replacing trunnion shaft seals, remove retain-
ing ring and washer from the housing and shaft.
2.
Pry lip seal carefully off the shaft. Make sure not to

distort the housing or damage the bore or shaft. Discard
seal.

Polish exposed surface of the shaft. Remove all

sharp edges, burrs, dirt, and abrasive residue that could
damage the lip seal during installation.

NOTE: The outside diameter of the lip seal may be
coated with Loctite High Performance Sealant 5923 or
equivalent. This aids the prevention of leaks caused by
seal bore damage.

Lubricate shaft with clean hydraulic oil. Slide lip seal
over shaft carefully. Make sure not to damage lip seal.
Press seal into housing bore.
3.
Replace washer if it is noticeably bent or distorted.
4.
After replacing trunnion shaft seals, reinstall washer
and retaining ring to the shaft and housing.
