Muffler (SP 5020)
Muffler Removal
1.
Park machine on a level surface, lower attachment,

stop the engine, engage parking brake, and remove the
key from the ignition switch.
CAUTION

The muffler and exhaust pipe may be hot. To
avoid possible burns, allow engine and exhaust
system to cool before working on the muffler.

Access muffler from the rear of the machine. Re-
move muffler shield from the engine by removing three
cap screws and lock washers securing it to the engine
(Fig. 23 and 24).

Remove cap screws securing muffler and both gas-

kets to the cylinder heads. Pull muffler from the engine
(Fig. 24 and 25).

Muffler Installation

Replace gaskets if torn or damaged. Replace ex-
haust detector if worn or damaged.

Secure gaskets and muffler to cylinder heads with

Secure muffler shield to the engine with three cap

screws and lock washers (Fig. 23 and 24).
