Parking Brake Switch
The switch used for the parking brake is a normally open
switch. The switch closes when the parking brake is dis-
engaged. The parking brake switch is located under the
steering tower cover (Fig. 24).

The Standard Control Module monitors the operation of
the parking brake switch. If the ignition switch is in the
ON position and the parking brake is disengaged, the
Module Parking Brake Off input LED should be illumi-
nated.

Make sure the engine is off. Locate switch for testing.
Disconnect electrical connector from the switch.
Check the continuity of the switch by connecting a
multimeter (ohms setting) across the connector termi-
nals.
