Planetary Wheel Drive Removal (Fig. 5)
Park machine on a level surface, lower cutting unit,
4.  Secure hydraulic wheel motor to planetary assembly
with two (2) cap screws. Torque screws from 75 to 85 ft−
lb (101 to 115 N−m).

stop engine,  engage parking  brake, and  remove key
from the ignition switch.
WARNING

Drain oil from planetary wheel drive/brake assembly
(see Operator’s Manual).
Failure  to   maintain  proper  wheel   lug  nut
torque could result in failure or loss of wheel
and may result in personal injury.
CAUTION
When changing attachments, tires, or perform-
ing other  service, use correct  blocks, hoists,
and jacks. Make  sure machine is parked on  a
solid, level  surface such  as a concrete  floor.
Prior to  raising machine,  remove any attach-
ments  that  may  interfere  with  the safe  and
proper raising of the machine. Always chock or
block wheels.  Use jack stands  or solid wood
blocks to support the raised machine. If the ma-
chine is  not properly supported  by blocks or
jack  stands, the  machine  may  move  or fall,
which may result in personal injury.
5.  Install wheel  assembly. Torque lug nuts from  85 to
100 ft−lb (115 to 135 N−m).
6.  Lower machine from jack stands.
7.
Make sure drain plug is installed in bottom of brake
assembly (Fig. 6). Fill  planetary wheel drive/brake as-
sembly with SAE 85W−140  gear lube (see Operator’s
Manual). Capacity  is approximately  16 oz. (.47  l) per
wheel.

Check for  proper brake  operation (see Operator’s
Manual).

Chock rear wheels and jack up front of machine (see
Jacking Instructions in Chapter 1 − Safety). Support ma-
chine with jack stands or solid wood blocks.

Remove front wheel assembly.
5.
Remove  four (4)  flange head  screws  that secure
brake assembly to planetary assembly (see Brake As-
sembly in this Chapter).

Support hydraulic wheel motor to prevent it from fal-
ling. Remove two (2) cap screws that secure wheel mo-
tor to planetary assembly.

Support planetary assembly to prevent it from falling.

Loosen and  remove  flange head  screws that  secure
planetary  assembly to  frame.  Remove planetary  as-
sembly from machine.

1.
Inspect gasket between brake and planetary assem-
blies. Replace as needed.
2.
Position  planetary  assembly   to  machine.  Install
flange head screws that secure planetary assembly  to
frame. Torque  screws from 75 to  85 ft−lb (101  to 115
N−m).
3.
Secure brake assembly to planetary assembly with
four (4) flange head screws (see Brake Assembly in this
Chapter). Torque screws from 75 to 85 ft−lb (101 to 115
N−m).
