Park machine on a level surface, lower cutting
decks, stop engine, engage parking brake and remove
key from the ignition switch.
5. Removetwo(2)flangeheadscrewsthatsecurether-
mostat housing to water pump. Remove thermostat
housing.

6. Removethermostatandsealfromwaterpumphous-
ing.

Raise and support hood to allow access to engine.

Clean gasket surfaces of pump and thermostat
housing.
CAUTION

Inspect thermostat sealing areas in pump housing.
Thoroughly clean sealing surfaces if any corrosion or
debris buildup is evident.
Do not open radiator cap or drain coolant if the
radiator or engine is hot. Pressurized, hot cool-
ant can escape and cause burns.
Thermostat Testing
Ethylene--glycol antifreeze is poisonous. Dis-
pose of coolant properly, or store it in a properly
labeled container away from children and pets.
